MICHAEL R. WOODS Michael R. Woods is a new faculty member at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and is a PhD Candidate in Hispanic Linguistics at the University of New Mexico. His research areas include sociolinguistics, sociology of language, language attitudes, Central Americans in the US, and Spanish language education.He has published on Salvadoran and Honduran voseo; more specifically, second person singular pronoun choice (Woods & Rivera-Mills 2010), language attitudes (Woods & Rivera-Mills 2012), and variables conditioning vos/tú among Salvadorans in Oregon (Woods & Shin forthcoming). He is currently working on his dissertation tentatively titled: “Negotiating Salvadoran identities in Mexican-American spaces: Language and belonging in the Latin@ community of Salem, Oregon.” Michael is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Honduras 2005-2007) and is involved in the Oregon Cuban Salsa community.
